The Bellevue Compass
The federal government is officially in a shutdown. We discuss what we’re watching for and what might happen next in The Bellevue Compass.
In Case You Missed It
Amidst the shutdown, the President has set a deadline—but not on Congress. This one is on Hamas, which Trump says has until Sunday to respond to his proposed 20-point peace proposal. The President met with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu on Monday to discuss the conditions.
Economic advisers are warning that a prolonged shutdown will have major economic consequences, according to a White House memo obtained by POLITICO. The U.S. stands to lose $15 billion of its gross domestic product each week that the shutdown continues.
Responding to pressure from the Trump Administration, Apple will remove the app ICEBlock, an app that allows users to share information about sightings of Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, from the App Store.
The Senate is voting again on stopgap measures this afternoon, but the outcome is unlikely to change. If it doesn’t, the shutdown will continue as lawmakers head home for the weekend.
Plus, just in case you missed it: Our CEO, Mustafa Rashed, penned an Op-Ed about who wins and who loses—in PA and in DC—when the federal government shuts down.
That’s it for this week.
Til next time.
