This week’s City Council hearings focused on property management, public space regulation, public safety within the legal system, and economic development priorities. Meanwhile, the Mayor and city leaders launched Philadelphia's first-ever Human Trafficking Awareness and Prevention Campaign in advance of the summer’s high-profile events, and announced a series of activations in the Market East corridor. Harrisburg sessions saw a number of bills move this week.

Speaker Johnson stared down three bills facing major opposition from both conferences: the farm bill faced a floor revolt over pesticide language and E15 gas provisions, FISA authorization was tangled up in a central bank digital currency debate, and the reconciliation vehicle for DHS funding wasn’t looking good. A bipartisan Senate bill that would create a federal framework to track how artificial intelligence is reshaping the U.S. workforce has won backing from Silicon Valley tech giants including Anthropic, Google, Microsoft and OpenAI, via Politico.
Today marks the 60th day since the Trump Administration notified Congress of the conflict in Iran, and senior administration officials are leaning on the April 7th ceasefire as proof that the conflict has been “terminated” before the 60-day mark, which would require Congress to approve any further action.
