Government Relations Updates
This week was slow in both Council and the state legislature, but that doesn’t mean things aren’t moving—the Parker Administration announced the kickoff of the One Philly (SNAP) Support Plan, which will help families in need during the government shutdown. Plus, a judge ruled in favor of the 25-state governors’ lawsuit against the Trump Administration regarding SNAP benefits.
The election was Tuesday, and we have a full breakdown of the results in our update.

The shutdown broke the record this week for longest ever—and there’s no end in sight. Will Tuesday’s election results set things back, or inch them forward? We talk about it this week in The Bellevue Compass.

Governor Josh Shapiro and the governors of 24 other states signed on to a lawsuit against the Trump Administration over SNAP benefit funding. A judge ruled in their favor.
On Thursday, the Supreme Court ruled that Trump’s requirement that all new passports display a sex-assigned-at-birth could stand, for now. "Displaying passport holders' sex at birth no more offends equal protection principles than displaying their country of birth," the court said.
President Trump announced deals with Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk that aim to lower the cost of popular weight loss drugs, including Wegovy and Zepbound.
