In Case You Missed It
You might have already seen it on the news, but President Trump is set to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy this afternoon at the White House, after a “productive call”—which may have stolen Zelenksyy’s moment—with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Though the Supreme Court is not expected to issue a decision for a few months, oral arguments were heard on Wednesday on a challenge to the Voting Rights Act, peppering lawyers with questions in a session that lasted over two hours.
Meanwhile, as the shutdown continues, the Senate will vote next week on pay for some federal employees, including active military members. And, Senate Majority Leader John Thune is quietly imploring that President Trump reopen the flow of certain farm loans amid the shutdown, or farmers—a key GOP voting bloc—will continue to suffer.
That’s it for this week.
Til next time.
